Nopeming Sanatorium is a former tuberculosis hospital and later nursing home located in Midway Township outside of Duluth, Minnesota. It opened for tuberculosis patients in May 1912, then became a nursing home in the 1970s, and closed in 2002. Since then, it's been mostly vacant, used occasionally as a haunted attraction.

Paranormal TV made it famous. Ghost Adventures traveled to Duluth, MN, where they became the first paranormal team to investigate the Nopeming Sanatorium. Thousands of lives were lost to tuberculosis, so it makes sense that Zak Bagans felt like getting possessed there. The crew described it as a place where spirits of the dead can still be heard echoing in the hallways.

What people report there:

Nopeming Sanatorium has a secluded setting with reports of voices, footsteps, unexplained cold spots, disembodied whispers, and shadow figures lurking in the hallways.

The most repeated story is the Lady in White. She is believed to be a former nurse who cared for tuberculosis patients during the sanatorium's busiest years. Numerous witnesses claim to have seen this spectral figure wandering the halls, seemingly still tending to patients long after the sanatorium's closure. Dressed in a pristine white uniform, she is often seen in the early morning hours, with her form disappearing as quickly as it appears.

Other common reports include Children's voices or sounds, a young girl seen or heard on upper floors, reports of laughter or giggling, and claims of footsteps in empty hallways.

Nopeming is closed to the public, with no confirmed active public tour hours at the time of writing. It’s currently private property and not open for casual exploring. They occasionally open for ghost adventure tours from May through October and sometimes offer private and public tours.
