Appalachia's Three-Tap Knock

Now onto the unexplained story! DID YOU KNOW that Appalachian Mountain settlers kept written logs of a strange winter phenomenon known as the “three‑tap knock?” During blizzards, isolated mountain cabins would get three slow knocks on the door after midnight, always three, and always the same rhythm. Families believed it was a lost traveler seeking shelter, but when they opened the door, no one was there, and the snow outside was untouched.  Some journals say the knocking stopped the moment a lantern was lit , as if whatever stood outside didn’t want to be seen.
